Privacy Policy

Overview

This Privacy Policy explains how EMBER Rust handles information when you use its website, Rust servers, Discord community, ticket system, store, account linking, leaderboards, heatmaps, bots, and related services.

Steam information

When you sign in through Steam or play on an EMBER Rust server, we may receive or record your SteamID64, Steam display name, public profile URL, public avatar, and authentication/session information. Server connection and gameplay records are also collected. EMBER Rust does not receive your Steam password.

Discord information

When you connect Discord, we may receive your Discord user ID, username or display name, avatar, EMBER Discord membership status, and information needed to verify eligibility for Discord-linked features. EMBER Rust does not receive your Discord password.

Gameplay and leaderboard information

While you play, server plugins may record connection/disconnection/playtime, kills/deaths/headshots/weapons/ammunition/distances/event times, resource gathering, explosives used, items placed, and server/map/wipe identifiers. Other statistics required for leaderboards and server administration may also be collected.

• Certain statistics, Steam display names, SteamID64s, and public avatars may appear on public leaderboard pages.

Heatmap information

The server may collect event coordinates for supported activities such as PvP kills and resource gathering. Raw coordinates are converted into aggregated grid cells during ingestion and discarded.

• Public heatmaps use aggregated map areas.
• Player names and SteamIDs are omitted.
• Exact event timestamps are not exposed.
• An approximately 10-minute delay is enforced.
• Heatmaps are not designed for live player tracking.

Tickets and support

When you create or reply to a ticket, we may collect the ticket category, description, reported player names or SteamIDs, messages, staff responses, evidence links, uploaded files, ticket status, assignment, administrative audit records, and your verified Steam identity.

• Uploaded evidence may be removed automatically after its displayed expiration period.
• Ticket conversations and administrative records may be retained longer when needed to resolve disputes, enforce rules, prevent abuse, or meet legal obligations.

Purchases

When you make a purchase, we may receive your account identifier, the products or benefits purchased, transaction status, amount, date, and payment-provider reference numbers. Payment-card and financial-account details are generally processed by the payment provider rather than EMBER Rust, and that provider's privacy policy also applies.

Technical information

When you use the website or APIs, we may automatically collect your IP address, browser type, device type, operating system, requested pages, request times, general usage information, cookie or session identifiers, error/security/authentication/audit/rate-limit logs, and referring page information.

How we use information

We use information to:

• Operate the website, servers, tickets, leaderboards, heatmaps, bots, and administrative tools.
• Authenticate Steam and Discord accounts and connect them when requested.
• Verify Discord membership and kit eligibility.
• Deliver purchases, memberships, permissions, kits, and digital benefits.
• Maintain cooldowns, redemption limits, and claim history.
• Provide support and respond to tickets.
• Investigate cheating, teaming, fraud, ban evasion, and other rule violations.
• Protect players, staff, accounts, services, and infrastructure.
• Prevent duplicate submissions and API abuse.
• Improve performance, reliability, and user experience.
• Comply with legal obligations and enforce the Terms of Service.

Cookies and sessions

EMBER Rust uses cookies or similar browser storage when necessary to keep you signed in, maintain Steam authentication sessions, protect against unauthorized requests, remember essential preferences, and operate administrative and ticketing features. Blocking essential cookies may prevent sign-in, ticket, account-linking, or administrative features from working. If optional analytics or nonessential tracking is introduced, this policy and any required consent controls will be updated.

Legal reasons for processing

Depending on where you live, information may be processed because it is necessary to provide a requested service or transaction, you gave consent, EMBER Rust has a legitimate interest in security, moderation, fraud prevention, support, and service operation, or processing is required by law. You may withdraw consent for optional account linking by unlinking the account, although previously recorded security, transaction, or moderation records may still be retained when necessary.

When information is shared

Information may be shared with:

• Hosting, database, storage, and infrastructure providers.
• Steam and Discord for authentication and account verification.
• Payment providers for purchases, payment status, and refunds.
• Security, anti-cheat, and abuse-prevention providers.
• Authorized EMBER Rust staff who need access for support or moderation.
• Government authorities or other parties when legally required or reasonably necessary to protect rights, safety, and security.
• A successor operator if the EMBER Rust service is transferred or reorganized.

Data retention

Information is retained only as long as reasonably necessary for its purpose. Retention depends on the type of data:

• Login sessions expire after a limited period or when invalidated.
• Gameplay statistics may be retained by wipe and displayed as historical leaderboard data.
• Aggregated heatmap cells may be retained for current or historical wipes.
• Raw heatmap coordinates are discarded after conversion into aggregate cells.
• Evidence uploads may expire after the period displayed by the ticket system.
• Tickets, moderation records, bans, transaction records, and security logs may be retained for support, enforcement, fraud prevention, accounting, dispute resolution, or legal compliance.
• Account-linking records may remain until unlinked, deleted, or no longer required.
• Backups may preserve deleted information temporarily until the normal backup cycle replaces it.

Data security

EMBER Rust uses reasonable technical and organizational measures intended to protect information, including restricted administrative access, server-side secrets, signed requests, authentication checks, and limited evidence links. No online system can be guaranteed completely secure. You are responsible for protecting your Steam and Discord accounts.

Your privacy choices and rights

Depending on your location, you may have the right to request access to information associated with you, request correction of inaccurate information, request deletion of eligible information, request a portable copy of certain information, object to or restrict certain processing, withdraw consent for optional processing, appeal or complain to an appropriate privacy authority, and exercise privacy rights without unlawful discrimination.

• Some information may be retained when necessary for security, fraud prevention, active disputes, server enforcement, transactions, or legal compliance.
• Identity verification may be required before account information is disclosed or changed.

Children's privacy

EMBER Rust is not directed to children under 13 and does not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. Users must also satisfy the minimum-age requirements of Steam, Discord, and applicable local law. If EMBER Rust learns that information was collected from a child in violation of applicable law, reasonable steps will be taken to delete or restrict that information.

International processing

Hosting providers and other service providers may process information in countries different from your own. Where required, reasonable safeguards will be used for international transfers.

Third-party links and services

The website may link to Steam, Discord, payment providers, map services, hosting platforms, or other third-party services. Their privacy practices are controlled by their own policies, not this Privacy Policy.

Changes to this policy

This Privacy Policy may be updated as features, providers, or legal requirements change. The updated date will appear at the top. Material changes may also be announced through the website or EMBER Discord.
